Sunday 9th December
London League Cyclo Cross Race - Stanmer Park, Brighton
1hr race
Conditions were extremely tough - two hills to climb on each lap - terrain was an extremely muddy field - stopped to unclog my bike - managed not to fall over, unlike many others - weather was very changeable - cold gusty winds, rain, and even a brief spell of sunshine.
Missed the start - I was in the toilet at the time (!!)- set off conservatively as I didn't see how I could catch the field that was already 1minute up on me.
Finished 6th woman out of 7. First woman was Katharine Mason (Sussex Nomads).

2hr bike ride (28 miles) Crystal Palace - Beckenham - West Wickham - Layhams Lane - Skid Hill - Hessiers Hill - Beddlestead - Tatsfield - Biggin Hill - West Wickham - Beckenham - Crystal Palace.
Easy pace with 90rpm cadence
This was meant to be a longer ride but the weather was horrendously wet and windy. My hands got so cold and wet through my gloves that I could barely change gear so cut the ride short.
70min easy run - 2 laps around South Norwood lake (the tarmacced route), 1 lap of Crystal Palace Park. ~10km

15mins - skipping with rope (1200 turns)
(various moves - scissors, jumping jacks, classic boxers, high knee, one leg, learning double turns)
High intensity - pretty knackering.
It was just a quick blast at lunchtime on one of the rare dry days we've had recently !

Sunday 18th November
London Cyclo Cross League race @ Stanmer Park, Brighton
1hr race.
Terrain was grass and woodland trails. Undulating with a killer climb to
do straight up the side of the hill. One short steep slope which was rideable at the start of the race, but then became a slippery unrideable muddy bank as the rain got heavier.
Used my mountain bike as elbow injury stopped me from operating brakes/gears on my cross bike. Hard work to ride.
10 women raced - finished 8th out of 10. First woman was Jenn Hopkins (Minx Girl) I was the only one on a mountain bike. One of the last finishers, but got a good work-out even if it was wet and bitterly cold !

Sunday 11th November
Had a mild throat infection so didn't go out riding Saturday. Still had a bit of a sore throat the next morning, but don't think it was bad enough to stop me riding.
40min easy run around South Norwood Lake
London Cyclo Cross League @ Reed Court Farm, Chainhurst
1hr race
Terrain was farmland. Untechnical, but very energy sapping as the ground was very bumpy. There were a number of false flats. Even though untechnical I still managed to crash spectacularly on the one muddy section !!
Raced hard. Finished 4th lady (right behind Katharine Mason, Sussex Nomads) out of 8. Nicky Hughes (Activ Cycles) won.
Still coughing and spluttering - will have to lay off Monday's training ride out of caution.
